I drilled a hole in the plate and mounted the supplied bracket bent at 45 degrees.

Make sure you use the rubber gasket on the outside though to avoid leaks. 

Aligned up the tab and marked the tank and sender for reference.

On first fill, pour each gallon in one at a time and write down your gauge results. I currently have mine set to read E with one gallon left. It hits F about 2 gallons before toped off.

You will notice that I have some kind of goop on my on the inside on the back plate, this is gas tank sealer. I don't know if this was necessary, but used it anyway.
